Red Oak and Antler Recurve
This Is a bare bones simple Red Oak recurve. 64 inches long and 45 pounds at 28 inches of draw. I built this bow and a longbow to test the differences between two designs. This bow was faster but scored slightly lower in an accuracy test.
The Wood: Oak is a very resiliant wood, used for outdoor furniture. It does well in a wide variety of environments and makes a sweet shooting bow. The red color is unique and with a cross grain design this bow is full of lines and character that make it truly unique.
The Design: Recurves are a classic design that reduces string angle at full draw and adds draw weight in the beginning portions of the draw helping the arrow fly faster. This is a very gentle recurve but at 64 inches long it is very forgiving.
Finishing touches: Moose antler tip overlays protect the string grooves from wear and a Caribou antler arrow rest helps with consistency in shooting. other than that long grain and red oak speak for themselves in a very simple but pretty bow.
