Red Oak and Antler Longbow
This Is a bare bones simple Red Oak longbow. 68 inches long and 45 pounds at 28 inches of draw. I built this bow and a recurve to test the differences between two designs. This bow was more accurate but slightly slower than the recurve.
The Wood: Oak is a very resiliant wood, used for outdoor furniture. It does well in a wide variety of environments and makes a sweet shooting bow. The red color is unique and with a cross grain design this bow is full of lines and character that make it truly unique.
The Design: Longbows are known for being forgiving and accurate. At 68 inches long this bow can handle a 30 inch draw length with ease and is a very smooth shooter.
Finishing touches: Moose antler tip overlays protect the string grooves from wear and a Caribou antler arrow rest helps with consistency in shooting. other than that long grain and red oak speak for themselves in a very simple but pretty bow.
